Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a natural form of medicine that works by stimulating the body's inherent healing abilities. This ancient practice, originating from Chinese medicine and later developed in Korea and Japan, involves inserting very thin needles into precise points on the body to restore balance and promote overall wellness.
A common misconception about acupuncture is that it’s only for treating physical symptoms. Acupuncture considers not only the physical aspects of health but also emotional and mental well-being. It often addresses underlying, root causes rather than just focusing on visible symptoms.
What to Expect During the Sesseion?
My acupuncture sessions begin with an assessment of your overall health. This includes checking your pulse, heart rate, oxygen levels, observing your tongue, eyes, and complexion, as well as asking questions. I also incorporate a diagnostic method called Hara (腹), which involves gently palpating your abdomen.
One time use, Sterilized fine SILVER needles are mainly used to ensure PAIN-FREE, minimal discomfort while achieving the best possible results.
Your treatment may include Moxibustion, Cupping, or Acupressure massage.

What is
Japanese Acupuncture?
1. Needle Size and Insertion Depth
Japanese acupuncture uses thinner, finer needles than Chinese acupuncture. While Chinese acupuncture is aiming for a stronger stimulation by reaching deeper layers of the body, Japanese acupuncture places needles more superficially, with a focus on gentler, less invasive techniques, reflecting the philosophy of "less is more".
2. Needle Technique
Japanese technique tends to focus on very delicate, precise needle placements with minimal manipulation to gently balance the body’s energy without invoking strong sensations.
3. Point Selection and Diagnosis
While still based on traditional principles of Chinese medicine, Japanese acupuncture use a more individualized, fine-tuned diagnosis through palpation and other subtle techniques, selecting points that may be more localized or tailored to the patient’s unique needs.
4. Treatment Philosophy
Japanese acupuncture is often viewed as more holistic and less aggressive. It tends to prioritize gentle balancing of the body’s energy, and treatments are designed to harmonize the mind and body more subtly. Japanese practitioners often focus on emotional well-being and stress reduction in addition to physical symptoms.
5. Pain and Sensation
Generally considered gentler, Japanese acupuncture is designed to be less invasive and usually results in minimal to no discomfort. Many patients report feeling relaxed and calm during and after treatment.
6. Philosophical Influences
Chinese acupuncture tied closely to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its long history of classical texts, including the "Huangdi Neijing" (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon), which provides detailed theories about the body and acupuncture points. Japanese acupuncture, while also based on same principles, was developed with its own unique philosophical and cultural influences. It emphasizes patient-centered approach and the importance of sensitivity to the patient’s response and less focus on diagnosing and categorizing disease in a rigid way.

Moxibustion
The word "moxa" originates from the Japanese term "mokusa" (もくさ, 艾), which is derived from the Chinese word "ai" (艾), meaning mugwort. Moxibustion is a therapeutic technique that involves applying heat from burning moxa(dried mugwort, Artemisia vulgaris) to specific acupuncture points. This process helps to warm and stimulate the body, promoting the flow of energy and enhancing overall vitality.
Moxibustion is gentle and won’t leave any scars on your skin. Instead, you'll experience a soothing warmth and a deep sense of comfort.

Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy is an ancient healing technique that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This practice offers numerous health benefits, including improved circulation, relief from muscle tension, reduced inflammation, stress reduction, detoxification, and enhanced skin health.
Cupping is generally safe and well-tolerated. During the session, you may feel a warming or gentle tightness as the cups are applied to your skin. After the treatment, some people may notice circular marks or bruises where the cups were used. These marks are typically harmless and will fade within a few days.
Facial Acupuncture
This natural treatment enhances a radiant complexion by stimulating circulation, boosting collagen, and promoting a natural lift. It improves skin tone, reduces puffiness, and relieves facial tension. The treatment works by increasing blood flow, and smoothing fine lines specifically targeting the facial muscles and tissues to improve texture, elasticity, and overall skin vitality.
My facial acupuncture service may incorporate facial gua sha, acupressure massage, and cupping therapy. To allow access to the skin and ensure the needles can be applied effectively, please arrive with a clean face, free of makeup, lotions, or sunscreen.
